SPRING TIME

These pretty little flower gardens are perfect for Mother's Day, Grandparent's Day, birthdays, or just to celebrate springtime. Make one for your teacher, too!

What you'll need:

Baby food jar with lid
Small silk flowers
Rolling pin
White craft glue or hot glue gun
Green play dough or green modeling clay (you can use our homemade play dough below)

How to make it:

If using the homemade play dough, follow recipe instructions below.
Roll out the play dough or clay with rolling pin.
Using the mouth of the jar as a cookie cutter, cut out a circle. If you use the lid as the cookie cutter you will not be able to close your jar when the time comes.
Glue the play dough or clay into the lid.
Stick flowers into the dough or clay. If using play dough, set lids aside to dry and harden over night.
Screw the lid onto the jar, carefully inserting the flowers into the jar.
Decorate the lid however you like. (We used a scrap of felt then tied a piece of ribbon on.)

Play dough recipe:

1 cup Flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 cup Salt
1 cup warm Water
1 teaspoon Oil
Food coloring

Tips:

Modeling clay is inexpensive and can be found at most craft stores in a variety of colors.
Check the clearance racks for silk flowers, and look for flower arrangements at the dollar store as well.
As an option, you can use toothpicks for stems and foam flower cutouts if you prefer.

QUIZ: Am I Ready to Date?

What is the status of my relationship with Jesus? Do I acknowledge Him as the center of my life?
Do I regularly receive the Sacraments, i.e. Mass every Sunday and more often if possible, Confession regularly, etc.?
Do I pray daily, keeping my life in communion with Him?
Do I regularly read and study the Word of God so that the truth of the Scriptures may continue to form my life?
What is my understanding of my vocation? Have I earnestly sought out the will of God for my life? Do I have some reasonable grounds for believing that He is calling me to be married?
Do I have good reason to believe that now is the time that He wants me to date?
Am I victorious in the moral life? Am I consistently free from mortal sin, especially sins of the flesh? Has a significant time passed in which I am able to live chastely, victorious over sins of the flesh in my life (i.e. 6 months to a year)?
Do I carefully avoid near occasions of sin, such as conversations, books, magazines, music, movies, TV shows, or clothing, that devalue the virtue of chastity or disregard other aspects of the moral life?
Am I personally mature enough to enter into this type of relationship with another person?
Do I have a healthy love and respect for myself? Do I have a healthy self-image? Do I see myself as good and loveable rather than thinking I am unlovable or not worthy of someone's love?
Do I have some stable, quality friendship relationships?
Do I have a healthy well-rounded life without dating, as opposed to having a consuming 'need' to date in order to give my life meaning or resolve unmet loneliness issues?
Am I approaching dating for the purpose of loving service of another instead of simply having my needs met?
